No ordinary love.

Yesterday I attended the EFFP conference in London entitled "Food GB: Stepping up to the plate". Amongst the notable speakers was Lord Digby Jones, and our own Minister for Food and Fun; Jim Paice.
Rosie Boycott was there too. For those of you not familiar with Ms Boycott, she is a failed organic farmer, an ex. alcoholic and is ex. editor the Independant and ex. editor of the Daily Express. She was addressing the conference in her capacity as Chairperson of London Food - a role for which she is paid over £20K per annum. She was there to point out the huge opportunities that London 2012 gives to food producers. She is right. She is also right that the majority of delegates were men (not really surprising in an industry dominated by men). She is not right that the average age of farmers is 60 (that is a statistically anomaly). What really got me going was the phrase "...there are organic farmers and there are ordinary farmers". There are good farmers and there are bad farmers; there are arable farmers and livestock farmers, there are young farmers and there are old farmers. I am many many things, but ordinary, I aint!
